Happenings
Our hearts go out to the flood victims across Queensland
The GCK team have endeavoured to contribute where they have been able, to assist during these trying times.
Many of our guys from the factory ventured to Bulimba during the crisis to assist in sandbagging, and worked where able to lend a hand.
The GCK pantek has been put to great use in a few trips to the greatly affected areas in the Lockyer Valley.
The first trip being to Gatton, with a full load of donated items from local Redlanders, consisting of food, water, disposable nappies, canned food, clothing, and much, much more. Our director, Wes Garsden and employee Ronnie Fairbairne, gladly gave their spare time for these trips.
Next day, loading up at 6am in Capalaba again and joined a convoy of 3 panteks – GCK, Redlands Removals and Betta Car & Ute Hire, Wes and Ronnie ventured to Maryborough with their load. A great day, full of joy, appreciation, and sometimes great sadness at the sight of the devastation.
The next weekend, Wes and Ronnie were confronted with the fullest devastation in the wake of the ferocious waters – Grantham. As they neared the township, they were met and escorted by police, through the streets to unload at the QLD Farmers Co-op, known to the locals as the old Butter Factory. They were there to see firsthand, the large line of SES workers, combing the area across the railway track. One can only guess that this was for any deceased bodies. Such a moving and surreal situation, the boys were moved to tears at the thought of such disturbing circumstances.
